These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Mithrandir sanctions screening API and dashboard (the "Service"), operated by Mithrandir ("we", "us", "our"). By registering for an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old and authorised to act on behalf of any organisation you represent. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.
We reserve the right to refuse registration, suspend, or terminate accounts at our discretion, including where we reasonably believe your use violates these Terms or applicable law.
The Service is provided for lawful sanctions screening purposes, including anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorism financing (CTF), and know your customer (KYC) checks. You may use the Service only in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.
You must not use the Service to screen individuals or entities for purposes unrelated to legitimate compliance functions, to build competing screening products, or to extract or resell sanctions list data in bulk.
Credit-based billing
API screening checks consume credits from your account balance. Dashboard manual checks do not consume credits.
No refunds
Credits are non-refundable once purchased, except where required by applicable consumer law.
Account suspension
We may suspend API access if your credit balance reaches zero. Dashboard access remains available.
Pricing changes
We will give at least 30 days notice of any change to credit pricing via the email address on your account.
The Service screens names against published sanctions lists and returns a confidence score. Results are indicative only. You must not rely solely on the Service as your compliance framework. You remain responsible for conducting appropriate due diligence and making your own compliance determinations.
We make no warranty that the sanctions lists we ingest are complete, current, or accurate at all times. We ingest list updates daily but there may be a delay between a list change and its reflection in our Service.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Where you submit personal data about third parties (names, dates of birth, nationalities) for screening, you warrant that you have a lawful basis to do so and accept sole responsibility for that processing.
All intellectual property rights in the Service, including the API, dashboard, scoring methodology, and documentation, belong to us or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in the Service other than the limited right to use it in accordance with these Terms.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and conditions. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of profits, arising from your use of the Service.
Our total aggregate liability to you in respect of any claims arising under or in connection with these Terms shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
You may close your account at any time via the Settings page. We may terminate or suspend your access with immediate effect if you breach these Terms. On termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Data retention after termination is governed by our Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email with at least 14 days notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
